Magic & Wires LLC
Privacy Policy
Effective November 4, 2026
Simple Spades is operated by Magic & Wires LLC. This policy explains how we handle information when you use the game. Contact [email protected] with questions or privacy requests.
Information we handle
- Game information: your chosen display name, table membership, teams, bids, cards, scores, game history, and activity timestamps. Use a nickname and avoid putting personal or sensitive information in your display name.
- Access information: session identifiers, private player and invitation credentials, and related security information needed to recognize your seat and protect games. Game files store hashes of access keys; your browser session also holds the credentials needed to restore your access.
- Technical information: our hosting and delivery providers may process IP addresses, requested URLs, browser information, timestamps, and security or error logs. Table-creation and admin sign-in protections keep hashed IP identifiers and request timestamps to limit abuse.
- Messages you send us: if you email support, we receive your email address and the information in your message. Playing does not require an email address or account.
Cookies and browser storage
The game uses an essential first-party session cookie to remember your games and authorize turns for up to 30 days. While you use the game, its expiry is renewed at most once a day. File-based player sessions are stored privately, separately from other applications. Clearing cookies, private browsing, browser restrictions, or hosting issues can still end access sooner, so save your private player link as a backup. Your display name is saved in your browser’s local storage until you remove it. Temporary tab session storage keeps private-link recovery information and unfinished table-creation requests. This recovery information expires after 30 minutes; private-link recovery keys are cleared after you successfully join or restore your seat. Admin sign-in uses a separate session cookie. Cloudflare may also use cookies for security, depending on the protections enabled.
You can clear cookies and site storage using your browser settings. This removes remembered access or preferences on that browser; it does not delete server-side game records. Save your private player link first if you want to restore your seat.
How we use and share information
We use information to run and resume games, show results, prevent abuse, troubleshoot problems, answer support requests, and understand game activity through the private admin report. Other people with access to your table can see your display name, bids, played cards, scores, and public game history. Hands are hidden from other players during play; game records are accessible to the operator for administration and support.
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. The game does not use advertising trackers. If you choose to allow analytics, we use Google Analytics to understand visits and basic use of the site. We use hosting services and Cloudflare to deliver and protect the site; these providers process information to provide their services. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy. We may also disclose information when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect the service, our users, or legal rights.
Optional first-party campaign measurement
After you select “Allow analytics,” we set a first-party, anonymous visitor cookie to recognize this browser for up to 180 days. It is separate from your player-access cookie, does not grant access to a seat, and does not extend its expiry on each visit. We store pseudonymous visit and conversion events privately on our server, including the first and most recent non-direct campaign source, medium, campaign, content, and search term supplied in UTM link parameters. We do not collect full URLs, referrers, advertising click IDs, display names, IP addresses, browser fingerprints, or private player keys in these campaign records. Do not put personal information in campaign parameters.
We measure consented landing visits, tables created, games started/completed, and invitation joins. Table conversions use the creator’s attribution; invited friends do not inherit the creator’s campaign. A game you create may finish later while other players are present; its conversion remains associated with your recorded campaign while your permission is active. Declining does not affect play. Withdrawing permission clears the visitor cookie and stops future campaign collection for that visitor, including later table conversions. Previously recorded events are retained until removed by the administrator; deleting a cookie does not delete historical records. Clearing cookies or changing devices can make a returning person appear as a new visitor. These figures describe anonymous browsers, not verified people or ad-platform billing.
Your choice is shared with the optional Google Analytics described below. Visitors who previously allowed analytics are asked again for this expanded measurement; existing opt-outs remain respected. Campaign logs and attribution records are stored outside the public web root. Administrator-entered ad spend is used for private cost-per-table reports; no Facebook Pixel or other advertising tracker is added.
Optional Google Analytics
Optional first-party measurement and Google Analytics are off until you select “Allow analytics.” Declining does not affect play. You can change your choice using “Analytics preferences” in the footer; withdrawing permission stops further collection, clears the first-party visitor cookie, and removes this game’s accessible Google Analytics cookies. Your choice is remembered on this browser for up to 180 days.
When enabled, Google may process cookie identifiers, device and browser information, approximate location, and usage information to provide reports. Our configured pageviews use a generic home/table title and omit query strings, URL fragments, and referrer values. We do not intentionally send display names, game IDs, private player links, bids, or cards to Google Analytics. Admin pages do not include the analytics tag. Advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled in our tag configuration.
Analytics cookies are configured to expire after 180 days without extending that expiry on each visit. Google’s retention of event data is controlled separately through our Analytics property settings. See Google’s Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Google may process information outside your country.
Retention and your choices
Saved games currently have no automatic expiry, including completed and cancelled tables. They remain until manually removed. We retain records for ongoing play, game history, support, and service administration. Hosting logs, email, and backups may follow separate retention schedules; we do not promise a fixed deletion period for them.
You may request access, correction, or deletion by emailing [email protected]. Include the table ID and enough information to identify your seat, but do not email a private player link or access key. We may need to verify control of a seat. We will handle requests as required by applicable law; some records may need to be retained for security, legal obligations, or other players’ game history. Applicable rights depend on where you live.
Security, children, and updates
Keep invitation and player links private: anyone holding a valid player link can act as that player. We use access controls and private server storage, but no system can guarantee absolute security.
Simple Spades is intended for people aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information, contact us so we can investigate and remove it as appropriate.
The game does not change its behavior in response to browser Do Not Track signals. We do not use game code to track your activity across other websites. If our practices change, we will update this policy and its effective date, and provide additional notice or obtain consent when required.
